Heidenheim 4-2 Bremen
Heidenheim picked up their first ever Bundesliga victory, on a day which marked their coach Frank Schmidt becoming the longest serving coach in German football history. Florian Kleindienst put the hosts in front from the penalty spot before Eren Dinkci – who is on loan at Heidenheim this season from Bremen – dribbled through to double their lead. A Marvin Ducksch penalty early in the second half brought Bremen back into the game, before Mitchell Weiser levelled matters. Dinkci showed no mercy against his parent club, though, and restored Heidenheim’s lead within a matter of minutes before another former Bremen man, Jan-Niklas Beste, tucked in a fourth from the edge of the area to seal the deal for Heidenheim.

Hot Heidenheim
Heidenheim have scored as man goals in this game as they did in the first three games of the season.

The Beste for last?
That should be it for Heidenheim with Beste restoring their two-goal advantage and surely sealing the points? Another former Bremen player scores from the edge of the area.
73'
Turning the screw?
Heidenheim have twice gone close to turning the screw, Kleindienst's shot just now missing the post by inches. Can they hold on to the points?
70'
Double for Dinkci
He is on loan from Bremen and has struck now TWICE against his parent club! Another dribble and delightful finish from a man who netted just once during his time at Bremen, and twice in an hour against them here.
64'
Bremen level!
Debutant Deman sends a perfect cross onto the head of Weiser, who brings the guests level! And something suggests we have not seen the last goal of the afternoon!
62'
Kleindienst hits the post!
A deflection on Kleindiest's shot takes the ball off target, as it also clips the outside of the post! Almost the two-goal lead restored, but at least that has stirred the fans' voices again!

Penalty for Bremen
The referee and VAR consult yet again and it's a penalty for Bremen this time! Ducksch's first attempt is staved, but the half-time substitute is on hand to head in the rebound. Game on!

Werner rings the changes
Three changes for Bremen at the break, with Friedl, Jung and Kownacki all hauled off. Can Veljkovic, Deman and Ducksch breathe new life into the northerners?

Dribble, DInkci, DOUBLE!
There it is, a deserved second for Heidenheim, and it is all Dinkci's doing. He dribbles in from the right, beating three defenders before dispatching the ball into the back of the net. No celebration for the former Bremen player, but the fans are going wild!

Best chance for Bremen!
Jens Stage will wonder how he has not brought Bremen level just shy of half-time. He slides in at the far post with the goal at his mercy, but hooks his effort over the top of the open goal!
31'
Dinkci over
ANOTHER chance for Heidenheim, this time Dinkci drilling over. Will they pay for this profligacy?
27'
Kleindienst chance!
Big chance for a second goal for Kleindients, who intelligently skips past his marker, but then fires his effort high and wide, admittedly from a tight angle.

Deadly dead balls
Four of Heidenheim's five goals this season have come from set-pieces - this was the second penalty, with one coming from a corner and one from a free-kick. A free-kick led to this penalty too.

Beste hits the wall
Beste and Dinkci lined it up, with the former hitting it. It strikes the arm of a defender in the wall, but the referee waved play on before being called to the monitor by VAR - IT'S A PENALTY!

Here they come!
The teams emerge, followed by Frank Schmidt - the man making history today as he heads into his 17th year as Heidenheim coach. Can he celebrate with a first Bundesliga win?

Woltemade starts
Nick Woltemade replaced the injured Marvin Ducksch early in Bremen's last game, and now he replaces him in the starting XI. Ducksch is not deemed fit enough to start as Woltemade makes his first start in almost three years (17 October 2020 at Freiburg).
Two changes for Schmidt
Compared to Heidenheim's last game against Dortmund, Schmidt makes two changes to his starting XI. Beck and Thomala both drop down to the bench, with Föhrenbach and Pieringer coming in.
Heidenheim starting XI:
Müller - Traore, Mainka (c), Siersleben, Föhrenbach – Dinkci, Maloney, Theuerkauf, Beste - Pieringer, Kleindienst
Heidenheim subs:
Eicher, Pick, Beck, Schöppner, Schimmer, Sessa, Dovedan, Keller, Thomalla
Bremen starting XI:
Pavlenka - Pieper, Stark, Friedl (c) - Weiser, Schmid, Groß, Stage, Jung - Kownacki, Woltemade
Bremen subs:
Zetterer, Bittencourt, Deman, Njinmah, Ducksch, Veljkovic, Lynen, Rapp, Borre

Werder's worry
The Green-Whites registered their first goals and enjoyed their maiden victory of the campaign against Mainz last weekend but they will be wary of an interesting stat going into this Matchday 4 encounter. In the six competitive fixtures between Heidenheim and Bremen, the visiting side has never won.
