Half-time: Frankfurt 1-0 Heidenheim

The hosts go into the break in the lead. Jessic Ngankam had a fantastic opportunity to give his side the advantage from the penalty spot, but fired his effort from 12 yards over the bar. However, shortly before half-time, Hugo Larsson found the bottom corner from outside the area as he netted his first goal since his summer transfer.

Lift-off for Larsson!

Frankfurt are in front, and it is the midfielder's first goal for the club that gets them off the mark. It's a great effort, too, as he drives a first-time effort into the bottom corner from outside the box. Just what Toppmöller will have been hoping for with half-time fast approaching!

Frankfurt looking to kickstart season

Frankfurt have struggled to find their groove this campaign. Sure, they have only lost twice, but those two games came in their previous two outings - 2-0 versus Wolfsburg last weekend in the Bundesliga and 2-1 against PAOK in the UEFA Europa Conference League on Thursday. In the league, their only triumph came on the opening day of the season, which means they have not prevailed in any of their previous five top-flight encounters. Toppmöller will be hoping the visit of newly-promoted FCH will change that.

Toppmöller: "Going to be a big test"

Frankfurt boss Dino Toppmöller, meanwhile, was full of praise for Heidenheim's rise and knows his side will need to be at their best to pick up all three points. "What’s happened there in recent years is a great achievement. The promotion was the reward for hard work. They appear to have settled in the Bundesliga, have picked up seven points and beat a Champions League team at home last weekend. They’re a very homogenous and hard-working team, who know exactly what they have to do – a clear idea, a clear plan. It’s going to be a big test for us, but clearly our expectation is to win the match.”

Schmidt: "Of course we try to get something"

Heidenheim boss Frank Schmidt is expecting a battle against Frankfurt. He said during his pre-match press conference, "They give the opponent little time and keep sprinting at the opponents - almost throughout the entire game. After our home win, we now play away again and of course we try to get something from the game."

Heidenheim 1-2 Frankfurt (a.e.t) - previous meeting

After 90 minutes without a goal in that aforementioned sole fixture between these two sides, Frankfurt required a 109th-minute winner from Sebastien Haller to advance in the cup back in 2017/18.

Head-to-head

This pair have met just once before at professional level, with Frankfurt winning 2-1 (a.e.t.) in Heidenheim in the 2017/18 DFB Cup round of 16, on route to lifting the trophy.

Heidenheim's bestie, Beste

Beste has been promoted Heidenheim's top source of goals this season with three goals of his own and three more assists. Two of his goals have been direct free-kicks so Eintracht will be wary of giving away too many fouls within shooting distance.
