There goes the final whistle. Leipzig are Supercup champions for the first time. A Dani Olmo hat-trick takes the headlines on the night when harry Kane made his Bayern Munich debut. Bayern had their chances but it was a case of Leipzig taking theirs. Top entertainment.

What a night it's been for Leipzig and Dani Olmo. The visiting fans are jumping and singing high up in the Allianz Arena as the team from Saxony look set to win the Supercup.

A Dani Olmo double has Leipzig in control at the break and the visitors are on course to lift the Supercup at this point. Bayern do have a certain Harry Kane on the bench, however, so anything could yet happen.

Well, well, well! What a goal Dani Olmo! Free kick for Leipzig in midfield and the ball makes its way to Werner. He pokes a pass forward to Olmo, who has his back to goal. The Spain international pulls off the most audacious spin and control to leave two defenders for dead and applies a through-the-legs finish on Ulreich. That was brilliant!

David Raum sends an aimless one into the Bayern mixer at one end while at the other, Sane's cross from the right is too high for the diving Gnabry,

Leipzig's Nicolas Seiwald is struggling slightly for Leipzig. The new arrival from Red Bull Salzburg was thrown into the visiting line-up after Kevin Kampl was injured in the warm-up.

As we await the appearance of both sides here it's worth remembering that the hosts are without some big names tonight. New signing from Dortmund, Raphaël Guerreiro, is out with a calf injury while Manuel Neuer continues his recovery from a leg break. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (knee) and Thomas Müller (hip) will play no part.

As many as six of the players who started for Leipzig in last May's Bundesliga win at the Allianz Arena are no longer around. Gvardiol, Halstenberg, Laimer, Szoboszlai, Nkunku and Silva have all since parted Saxony so it will be fascinating to see how Marco Rose's side gel tonight. Those who are present in the starting line-up tonight who competed in the aforementioned Bundesliga game are Blaswich, Simakan, Orban and Olmo.

Tonight's visitors also have a very recent signing on the bench. Defender Castello Lukeba arrived just yesterday from Lyon and he joins fellow new signings Nicolas Seiwald, Benjamin Sesko, and Fabio Carvalho among the Leipzig subs tonight. There are competitive debuts for forward Lois Openda and Xavi Simons in Marco Rose's starting XI.

Bayern won four of their five friendly games as they prepared for the defence of their Bundesliga title over the summer. Those victories, combined with some intensive work on the training pitch, led coach Tuchel to reveal, "There's been a good spirit and high quality in training for several weeks." No doubt those spirits will have been lifted even further with the arrival of a certain new star striker at Säbener Straße.

Harry Kane has completed his sensational switch to Bayern Munich to Tottenham Hotspur, and has been registered in time to play against RB Leipzig in the Supercup.

During Saturday's Supercup game, Bayern's shirts will contain the slogan, 'Red against Racism.' A club statement reads: "The cross-club initiative, which was launched three years ago, sees the German record champions regularly taking a stand against all discrimination and for diversity."

Of the 23 official Supercup matches that have been held, the defending Bundesliga champions have won 15 times. The DFB Cup winners (or beaten finalists or league runners-up, in the cases that a team won the double) have won on eight occasions - but not since 2015, when Wolfsburg overcame Bayern on penalties.

In the seven Bundesliga seasons these teams have shared to date, Bayern have had the upper hand overall in terms of results. There have been 17 competitive meetings, of which Leipzig have won two, drawn six and lost nine.

The Supercup is the traditional curtain-raiser on the domestic season in Germany as the Bundesliga champions take on the DFB Cup holders. It previously existed between 1987 and 1996, but was organised by the DFB (German FA). It was then replaced by the Ligapokal (League Cup) until the DFL re-introduced the Supercup in 2010. The most successful team in the competition is Bayern with 10 titles, while Leipzig - runners-up in 2022 - are the 13th different club to compete for the prize.
