Patrik Schick struck a hat-trick to help dig Bayer Leverkusen out of a hole and help the hosts to all three points. Boniface to miss Heidenheim visit

Xabi Alonso confirmed that striker Victor Boniface suffered a slight thigh injury whilst on international duty and won't be available for today's game. It is hoped that the attacker will return before the end of the year.

Alonso's view on Heidenheim

“We’ve analysed their matches, and we know them well from playing them twice last season, which were not easy games. They’ve got good attacking quality, and so we’ll need to be alert. They’re competitive and have maintained a good level in the Bundesliga despite also being in Europe.”

Schmidt's view on Leverkusen

"The stats show their quality in attack. They're also good at short passing, but they're particularly dangerous when they have space and can transition, whether it's out wide with Frimpong and Grimaldo or in the centre with Wirtz. Leverkusen are a complete team, but there are little things that can allow you to win against them. We need to be completely in the game mentally."
