xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals> xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals> goals).
It's been a close encounter. A flurry of chances for the visitors means they have perhaps edged the play so far, but the last few minutes have been tense and combative without any chances.

Bochum boys are warming up

Bochum's home form last season was the key to them avoiding direct relegation, and Peter Zeidler will be determined to start his reign at the Ruhrstadion in style.

Zeidler ahead of facing Gladbach

"They are a very good team. Their game against Leverkusen really impressed me. It was a beautiful match for all football lovers, with high intensity and a high level of play. It had everything that makes football special. It will be a very exciting, complex and demanding task for us. If we play to our strengths, we have a good chance."

Seoane ahead of facing Bochum

"Bochum have a different style of play. They are a team that stands out for their aggressive counter-pressing and direct play. They were not rewarded by the results in their first two competitive games, but they provided enough to deserve points."

Sad-bach

Gladbach are winless in seven in the Bundesliga, while their 2024 points tally of 17 is the lowest of all Bundesliga clubs, including the two teams relegated at the end of last season (Darmstadt & Cologne).

Watch: Gladbach 5-2 Bochum - previous meeting

The last time these two sides met, Gladbach ran out 5-2 winners at home to Bochum. The visitors will be hoping for more of the same this time around.

Fresh start

Having fought off relegation last season, Bochum will be hoping their first three points of the season come sooner rather than later following their opening day defeat to Leipzig. Visitors Gladbach also tasted defeat in their opening game so the home side will also have to be wary as they chase the three points.

Watch: Bochum 0-1 Leipzig highlights

Bochum also faced tough opposition in their opening game, coming up against Marco Rose's Leipzig. The away side kept out Leipzig's attacking talent until the second-half, when new signing Antonio Nusa struck to make sure his new side started with a win.

Fighting spirit

Having come back from two goals down against Leverkusen before losing in the closing minutes, Gladbach can take plenty of positives from the opening game against last year's champions. New signing Tim Kleindienst got on the scoresheet and Kevin Stöger also impressed; both will be hoping they can contribute to a win on matchday two.

Watch: Borussia Mönchengladbach 2-3 Bayer Leverkusen highlights

Gerard Seoane's side were unlucky to have come away with nothing against champions Leverkusen in their opening game. After going two goals down, Gladbach showed great spirit to pull themselves level and they would've taken a deserved point from the game were it not for a last minute goal from Florian Wirtz.
