Full-time: Mainz 1-2 Werder Bremen

Mainz suffered their first loss in 11 games as 10-man Werder Bremen stunned the hosts to collect their maiden victory of the campaign. Marvin Ducksch slotted in an early Bremen penalty, only for Jae-sung Lee to level for the 05ers. When Marco Friedl was subsequently sent off for the Green-Whites, it looked as though Werder's hopes were dashed. Not so. Step forth super sub and Bundesliga debutant Derrick Köhn to win the day for Ole Werner's men.

Bremen lead!

Scenes in Mainz! The ten men of Bremen have taken the lead to stun the home crowd. The hosts give up possession in attack and Werder pounce, building wonderfully up the pitch. Romano Schmid spots the run of teammate Derrick Köhn to his left, rolls a diagonal pass, and watches as Köhn rifles in at the near post two minutes after coming on.

Half-time: Mainz 1-1 Werder Bremen

All square in Mainz at the interval! Marving Ducksch broke the deadlock inside the first 10 minutes from the penalty spot after Justin Njinmah was fouled in the area by Dominik Kohr, but Njinmah's injury that forced him off shortly after stunted the visitors' momentum. Mainz, meanwhile, responded well and restored parity shortly before the half-hour mark when Jae-Sung Lee pounced on a Michael Zetterer mistake.

Mainz restore parity!

The hosts equalise, and it is one Zetterer will not want to see again. The goalkeeper comes for a cross, but collides with Stark and drops it at the feet of Lee, who taps into an empty net. One of the easiest goals the Korean will ever score.
