Full-time: St. Pauli 0-0 Wolfsburg

Stalemate at the Millerntor means it's now four Bundesliga home games without a goal this season for Pauli, who will nonetheless be appreciative of one more top-flight point. Wolfsburg stay on two wins for the campaign to date after a game in which goalkeepers Nikola Vasilj and Kamil Grabara stood out.

Pauli were very much the team on top in the first half, but Wolfsburg have since emerged as the more threatening team after the break.

Half-time: St. Pauli 0-0 Wolfsburg

The hosts still await their first Bundesliga home goal of this season, and the past 13 years. Jackson Irvine went closest for the Kiezkicker with a snapshot that Kamil Grabara superbly saved. Alexander Blessin's side have been the dominant team here.

Proud folks

Jackson Irvine's parents have been spotted in the Millerntor crowd and the home side have been giving both them and the Pauli fans plenty to shout about thus far. As it stands, the Boys in Brown look the likelier of the teams to score the game's first goal.

Wolfsburg have been content to soak up the Pauli pressure so far this afternoon and that's given the incentive to the home side to attack, which they have been doing plenty of.

New face in Pauli

The transfer window may be closed but clubs can still sign free agents and Pauli have done just that this week by making a move for 29-year-old goalkeeper Eric Oelschlägel, who was once on the books of both Werder Bremen and Borussia Dortmund. Oelschlägel was most recently with Emmen in the Dutch second division and he told the club's media that it was "a great feeling to be back playing in Germany".

Blessin on facing Wolfsburg

"They have the fastest strikers in the Bundesliga alongside Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayern Munich. I'm thinking of Mohamed Amoura and Tiago Tomás. Jonas Wind and Ridle Baku are also fast. They really have a lot of speed. They have already scored a lot of goals on the transition. For us, we obviously need to be careful not to give the ball away easily."

Hasenhüttl on facing St. Pauli

"It's always interesting to play there. They are a team that have changed their style of play a little after gaining promotion thanks to the new coach. They are a good pressing team. They focus on possession, have become more direct in their play and have good individual quality."

Wolves on the prowl

Ralph Hasenhüttl's team have scored at least twice in each of three three away games to date this season, claiming both of their 2024/25 victories on the road. St Pauli, by contrast, have yet to find the net at home in four games, an unwanted club record.
