Another good chance for the hosts. After a brilliant low pass, Richter breaks through on the left and shoots with his left foot from a tight angle. Schulze manages to close his legs together and parries it out for a corner.

Severe setback

After two recent victories and a draw, Fürth are ending the year with a heavy defeat. Nevertheless, the Cloverleaves still maintain a decent gap over the relegation places.

An historic Hamburg victory

Hamburg have only won by a higher margin than 5-0 once in their Bundesliga 2 history, when they won 6-1 against Hannover on 8 April 2023. In addition, they claimed a 5-0 home victory against Regensburg on Matchday 5 this season.

Massimo misses

Jean-Luc Dompé unintentionally makes a seemingly cleared ball dangerous again after a Fürth corner. The striker attempts to clear the ball outside the penalty area with an overhead kick, but instead plays it to his own six-yard box. Massimo is there but appears to be taken by surprise and fails to head it in from five metres out.

What a save!

A great reflex save from Heuer Fernandes. After a corner from the left, Asta heads the ball from five metres out - it flies straight at Heuer Fernandes, who puts his head in the line of fire and deflects the ball over the crossbar. However, he appears to be slightly shaken up afterwards.

Davie Selke strikes again, scoring his tenth goal of the season. Sahiti brilliantly chips the ball over two Fürth players on the right and into the path of Mikelbrencis. He delivers a low cross into the middle, and although it misses a Hamburg player at the near post, Selke is completely unmarked at the far post and only needs to tap it into the empty net.

Minute’s silence for victims of attack in Magdeburg

The DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga has recommended that teams wear black armbands and observe a minute’s silence for the remaining fixtures on Bundesliga Matchday 15 and Matchday 17 in Bundesliga 2 to remember the victims of Friday’s attack at the Christmas market in Magdeburg.

Jan Siewert on facing Hamburg

"We're expecting another top match against HSV. Hamburg are a good team with a lot of offensive power. We will also have our chances to do something in Hamburg. We can never guarantee what the end result will be. But I expect us to lead the way again with our style, readiness and willingness until the end. This is the standard we set for ourselves."

Merlin Polzin on facing Fürth

"We want to send the fans into the winter break with a good feeling and we will give everything to complete the match with a good performance. We want to show the potential that lies within the team."

Familiar face

Julian Green played his first five Bundesliga matches wearing Hamburg colours in the 2014/15 season.

Solid against Fürth

In the last seven home matches against the Clover Leaves, Hamburg have only conceded one goal.

Good record

Hamburg have lost only one of their last 15 competitive matches against Fürth (seven wins, seven draws), including progressing through the 2014 relegation play-offs thanks to the away goals rule (0-0, 1-1).
