SÜLES DEFLECTED STRIKE THE DIFFERENCE

An even first half between these two sides was followed up by pure dominance from the league leaders in the second half. Bayern's 28 attempts on goal produced just one goal, mainly due to Pavlenka's heroics, but it was all Bayern needed to extend their lead at the top of the table to four points ahead of Dortmund, who travel to Freiburg tomorrow.

GORETZKA CHIPS

So close to the seal on Bayern's three points, but Goretzka's chip over Pavlenka bounces just beyond the far post.

LEWANDOWSKI FIRES OVER

Huge frustration for the home side as the man you'd expected to score in this situation, doesn't. The Pole collects the ball in the Bremen box after a Bayern counter and moves the ball onto his left foot before shooting at goal, only to see the ball fly over the Bremen crossbar.

OFF THE BAR!

Lewandowski is in possession on the edge of the Bremen box, and touches the ball beyond the defender before shooting at goal. It curls beyond Pavlenka, but clipped the top of the crossbar before bouncing over the bar.

SÜLE GIVES BAYERN THE LEAD!

It's been a long time coming, but Bayern finally take the lead against Bremen. Pressure on the edge of the box from the home side, but Süle is on the edge of the box and in a world of space. He collects the ball, and smashes the ball at goal and is fortunate to see Klaassen's slide tackle deflect the ball past Pavlenka and into the net. That was the only thing that could have beaten Pavlenka today...

LEWANDOWSKI SO CLOSE!

A corner comes in from the home side and it's flicked on in the box by Goretzka to Lewandowski at the back post, who pokes the ball towards goal. Once again, though, Pavelnka is on hand to keep his side in with a chance of collecting a point in this game. Bremen haven't had any attacking play since Rashica's shot after 20 seconds of the second half.

MÜLLER MISSES HIS HEADER

Huge chance for the home side to get their lead. Superb play from Boateng in the Bremen box as he twice cuts past Gebre Selassie before crossing to the back post, and Müller heads down towards goal, but misses the target from just two yards out. He's shaking his head after that one...

IT'S ALL BAYERN HERE!

Pavlenka produces another save, this time from Alaba as Bayern continue to pile on the pressure. The only thing between them and a four point lead at the top is the Bremen goalkeeper, who has produced an outstanding performance.

PAVLENKA PALMS AWAY

Müller whips a cross into the Bremen box with Lewandowski the intended target at the back post. But Pavelnka is once again Bayern's nemisis, as he palms the ball away from danger.

BAYERN ON TOP!

The home side starting in style here and cause problems again. Lewandowski has an effort blocked, which then falls to Gnabry in the middle of the box. He shoots at goal on his left foot, but it's blocked behind and Süle heads wide from the forthcoming corner.

BAYERN FRUSTRATED BY COMPOTENT BREMEN

The away side have had to deal with less possession than their hosts, as they will have anticipated, but it has been no major problem for them so far. A stunning Pavlenka save to deny Gnabry's inventive turn-and-volley is the closest Bayern have come to scoring an opener.

GNABRY ALMOST GOALS ALL THE WAY

Picking up the ball near the halfway line, Gnabry has one thing in his mind from the get-go. He sets his eyes on the Bremen box and reaches it with space still to shoot. His effort heads towards the near post of Pavelnka's goal, but goes wide.

BREMEN FRUSTRATING BAYERN

Some loose passes and failed through balls in the final third in the last couple of minutes from the home side. Bremen having less and less possession in that time, but their defence is standing firm. Especially a tackle from Veljkovic, on a yellow card, against Coman as the Frenchman charged into the Bremen box.

LEWY HEADS WIDE

Bayern beginning to produce more and more chances as Lewandowski heads wide from a corner this time. Bremen continue to show their quality on the ball, and keeping it, but it's the home side who are making the most of their time with possession.

HUGE CHANCE FOR GNABRY

What a run from Gnabry and what a pass from Thiago. The Spaniard spots the German coming from the right wing into the centre, and lobs the ball over the Bremen defence. Gnabry times his run to perfection to meet the ball after a wonderful turn and volley, but Pavelnka produces an outstanding save with his right foot to keep it out.
22'

MÜLLER GOES FOR GOAL...

The Bremen defence drops off from pressing for just a second and Müller looks to take advantage from the edge of the box. He curls a shot at goal from the edge of the box, but it falls straight into Pavlenka's hands.

BOTH SIDES PLAYING CONFIDENTLY

Two sides who are strong in possession and willing to take risks in their play. It's been a fascinating start, with Bremen producing slick build-up play when bringing the ball forward. While Bayern are proving their class by overcoming the Bremen press, and finding space inbetween the lines with the likes of Müller and Gnabry causing problems.

DOUBLE CHANCE FOR MARTINEZ

The Spanish midfielder tries to get on the end of a ball to the back post, but Gebre Selassie heads it behind for a corner. The set-piece comes in from Kimmich and Martinez is on hand to get his head to the ball, but puts his effort wide of goal this time. End-to-end start with a high tempo in the Munich sunshine.

UNDERWAY IN MUNICH

Can Bayern win to keep the presure on title rivals Dortmund, or can Bremen grab a first win against the record champions for over a decade?
Kick-off!

KING COMAN AND CHEF GNABRY

Bayern might be coming to the end of an era with both Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben coming towards the end of their careers, but Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnarby are showing that there's no need for Bayern fans to fear. Coman has scored five goals already in 2019, while Gnabry has scored nine goals ass the mosr prolific player behind Lewandowski, while adding five assists.

KOHFELDT PACKS THE MIDFIELD

Werder Bremen head coach Florian Kohfeldt has sacrificed an attacker to pack his midfield today. M. Eggestein, Möhwald, Klaassen and Sahin are all central midfielders and could make up a diamond midfield four, with Klaassen the most attacking of the midifled group, and Sahin the most defensive.

TOLISSO RETURNS

For the first time since Matchday 3 Corentin Tolisso is named in a Bayern Munich Matchday squad. The Frenchman suffered a knee ligament injury way back in September and has been in recovery ever since, and could make his return today should he come on from the bench.

BAYERN RULE OVER BREMEN

The last time that the Green-Whites enjoyed collecting three points against their hosts was way back on  20 September 2008. Since then, 16 defeats and four draws has been the record for Bremen against Bayern, and the home side are in the right form to keep that run continuing. Coman's brace defeat Düsseldorf last time out, while Lewandowski has scored 14 goals in as many games against Bremen.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH KRUSE

As was announced on bundesliga.com yesterday, Werder Bremen captain Max Kruse has been named the Bundesliga's Player of the Month for March. It was an incredible four games for the German, who scored six goals and added three assists as Bremen continued their unbeaten run. "I've been at this level for a while," Kruse told us on winning the award. Can he crown the week with a special day in Munich today?
