Bouncing back

Matthias Ginter insists his side, "Want to win in the league again,” after Freiburg suffered back-to-back Bundesliga losses against Stuttgart and Dortmund. "It’s not easy to play every three days and then have two away games in a row," the defender added, before acknowledging that the Black Forest side's midweek European triumph against Olympiacos had lifted morale.

Set-piece threat

Prior to today's game, Eintracht coach Dino Toppmöller highlighted where he expects his team's opponents to threaten. "Freiburg are tough opponents with great individual quality," the tactician said. "It’s going to be a difficult game – we’re up against a very disciplined, hard-working side who are dangerous from set plays."

The Frankfurt coach made four changes for the UEFA Europa Conference League win at home to Aberdeen, with Hrvoje Smolčić, Sebastian Rode, Paxten Aaronson and Omar Marmoush in for Tuta, Hugo Larsson, Aurélio Buta and Jessic Ngankam. Roles could be reversed at the weekend.

Christian Streich was without injured defender Manuel Gulde for Thursday's UEFA Europa League trip to Olympiakos. Kenneth Schmidt deputised at left-back, while Vincenzo Grifo returned to the starting line-up in place of injured striker Michael Gregoritsch. Midfielder Nicolas Höfler started, but is suspended domestically following his red card in the loss to Dortmund. Merlin Röhl could come in.
