Alphonso Davies is set to make his comeback from injury in Bayern Munich’s UEFA Champions League game at home to Lokomotiv Moscow on Wednesday, head coach Hansi Flick has confirmed.

The 20-year-old tore ligaments in his right ankle against Eintracht Frankfurt on Matchday 5 on 24 October, and the initial prognosis was that he would be sidelined for up to eight weeks.
His recovery has gone well, however, and the Canada international resumed individual training two weeks ago. Davies has continued to progress in the meantime, to such an extent that Flick believes he is ready to take to the pitch against Lokomotiv on Wednesday.

“Alphonso Davies will be in the squad again tomorrow, which is great news,” the 55-year-old head coach said at his pre-game press conference on Tuesday.
“The plan is for him to play. We don’t know yet whether that’ll be from the start or off the bench.”
Davies has made four Bundesliga appearances so far this season, as well as another in the DFB Cup first round and a brief cameo in the Champions League win over Atletico Madrid on Matchday 1.
Bayern’s undisputed first-choice left-back last season, Davies currently faces stiff competition from the in-form Lucas Hernandez for a place in the side.
However, with injuries to key players including Joshua Kimmich, Corentin Tolisso, Jerome Boateng and Javi Martinez, he is likely to get plenty of action before the winter break as Flick rotates his side to avoid further absentees.
