Jamal Musiala one of five Bundesliga youngsters on Golden Boy shortlist
Jamal Musiala is one of five Bundesliga players - and two from Bayern Munich - on the shortlist for this year's Golden Boy award.
Musiala is joined by Mathys Tel from Bayern in the race to succeed Barcelona's Gavi as the winner of the award.
RB Leipzig are also represented with two players: Xavi Simons and Benjamin Šeško, while Musiala's Germany teammate Florian Wirtz, of Bayer Leverkusen, completes the Bundesliga contingent.
Erling Haaland (in 2020), Renato Sanches (2016) and Mario Götze (2011) were all previously at Bundesliga clubs when they won the award, Haaland and Götze at Borussia Dortmund and Sanches at Bayern.
Watch: All of Musiala's goals and assists last season
Jude Bellingham, among the betting favourites, is another former Dortmund man who has scored 10 goals in 10 games since his summer switch to Real Madrid.
Musiala was Bayern's most potent attacking force last season with 12 goals and 10 assists in the Bundesliga, and scored the winner to give Bayern the title with victory over Cologne on the final day.
Xavi has perhaps been the most impressive of the five this season, with three goals and four assists since he joined Leipzig on loan from Paris Saint-Germain. He also won September's Goal of the Month.
