Bayern star and England captain Kane

"The aim was to top the group and control our destiny and that's what we did. We'll look forward to the next one. We lacked that final bit of quality but we created some half chances. They played well and made it difficult for us. The boys who came on did well and kept the energy high, that's what we need."

Full-time: England 0-0 Slovenia

Boos from the England fans but utter jubilation for Slovenia who make the knockouts of a major tournament for the first time in their history. Another dire performance from the pre-tournament favourites will be the storyline, but Slovenia got exactly what the needed, and credit to them.

Half-time: England 0-0 Slovenia

That was one of the more forgettable 45 minutes of Euro 2024 football and Slovenia will certainly be the happier side. England look short of ideas and could well be pounced upon in the second half. With things scoreless between Serbia and Denmark, Slovenia are heading through if it stays the same.

Bundesliga interest

There's just two Bundesliga players in this one, but it's arguably the most important men on the pitch. Bayern Munich's Harry Kane captains England and lines up against fellow striker, Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko.

Group C permutations

England will win the Group if they beat Slovenia, or if they draw against Slovenia and Denmark fail to beat Serbia. If England draw and Denmark win, overall goal difference, then overall goals scored, then disciplinary points and then European qualifier rankings would determine first and second place. While the Three Lions cannot finish lower than third, Slovenia could end the day top or bottom of the section. A win would seal a top-two finish. A draw could, too, but only if Denmark vs. Serbia ends in a lower-scoring draw. A third-placed finish on three points might not be enough to see them through, though. Defeat to England coupled with a Serbia win would definitely send them out.
