Final team talks

The players are back in the dressing room as the closing ceremony gets underway. This is the last chance for Luis de la Fuente and Gareth Southgate to inspire their troops.

David Villa: "We are the best team at the Euros"

Spain's all-time top scorer David Villa is in Berlin with former teammate Xavi. Asked about tonight's match, he said: "England are a very tough team, difficult to create danger against. They are very physical. They have brutal talent up front. But I have faith in Spain, we have shown that we are the best in this Euro."

Southgate on Shaw over Trippier

"He gives us that balance on the left, he's ready to play. Trippier has done really well. The way he's handled everything in the last few weeks has been top class."
camera-photo

Kyle Walker: "It's dog eat dog out there"

"Williams is a very good player but I do this week in week out in the Premier League and Champions League so I'm not going to approach it any different. I show every player the respect they deserve but it's dog eat dog out there."

Marc Cucurella: "We have a good chance"

Spain defender Cucurella: "England have a lot of young players with a lot of talent so today is a tough game. I think if we do our job and what we've planned we have a good chance of winning."

Juan Mata: "We're afraid"

Euro 2012 winner and Spain legend Juan Mata admits England's team is a scary one. "We're afraid," he said. "Yesterday I was confident, today I'm afraid. England have a great team with players that can win matches up top in a split second. Kane, Foden, Saka, Bellingham. We know we're playing good and we're favourites but we know what England are capable of."
camera-photo

Pitch inspections underway

Both teams have arrived and are out having a look at the playing surface with less than 90 minutes until kick off.
camera-photo

More on those teams

There are two changes for Spain who bring back Le Normand and Carvajal from suspension. England meanwhile, make one surprise change with Luke Shaw deemed fit enough to start over Trippier.

England starting XI

Pickford - Walker, Stones, Guehi - Saka, Mainoo, Rice, Shaw - Foden, Bellingham - Kane (c).

Spain starting XI

Simon - Carvajal, Le Normand, Laporte, Cucurella - Rodri, Fabian - Yamal, Olmo, Williams - Morata (c).

The trophy has arrived!

Here's what the teams will be competing for. The Henri Delaunay Cup has arrived in Berlin, but will it be Kane or Morata who lifts it?
camera-photo

Bad omens for Southgate?

England manager Southgate will see an old rival in the Spain squad tonight - Jesus Navas. The pair last faced off in 2006 when Southgate was still a defender at Middlesborough and his side lost 4-0 to Sevilla in the UEFA Cup final.

Tonight's officials

Spain vs England will be refereed by Frenchman François Letexier who will be assisted by compatriots Cyril Mugnier and Mehdi Rahmouni, while Szymon Marciniak will be the fourth official. The VAR team consists of French official Jérôme Brisard, who will be assisted by his countryman Willy Delajod and Italian Massimiliano Irrati.

Questions at the back

While England are deliberating over Kieran Trippier or the returning Luke Shaw on the left side, debate in Spain centres around whether Nacho Fernandez or Robin Le Normand will partner Aymeric Laporte in defence.

Tonight's host

Spain vs England takes place in Berlin's world famous Olympiastadion. Home to Bundesliga 2 side Hertha, the 74,475 capacity arena has plenty of history, and will witness even more tonight.

Today's the day!

In just three-and-a-half short hours the Euro 2024 final will be underway. Will Spain win a record fourth title, or are we about to see last tournament's finalists England finally break their duck?
camera-photo

Rice: "Run through a brick wall"

Midfielder Declan Rice has also spoken with the press, saying: "I think now, especially on Sunday, all of us will run through a brick wall to do anything to win this game - whether that’s in 90 or 120 (minutes) - we’ll give absolutely everything and that’s all we can ask for."
camera-photo

Watkins: "We are obviously very strong"

England's semi-final hero Ollie Watkins spoke to the media on Friday and said: "We are obviously very strong... [With] Spain I feel like they've had some very tough games and they've had to come through maybe a harder journey than us... So-called the bigger teams. They have been probably the best team of the competition so far. Our focus is on that final and it's just back to base camp and focusing.
camera-photo

Olmo: "We play to win!"

A rallying call from Olmo to finish: "We are only thinking about the final. Not records, not the future. We are 90 minutes away from winning this, three years after not reaching the final [of Euro 2020]. We play to win."
camera-photo

Olmo not thinking about Golden Boot

With three goals each, both Olmo and Kane are among the leading group of scorers at Euro 2024. They have the chance to claim the Golden Boot and the tournament trophies on Sunday, but Olmo is not focusing on personal accolades. He told the press: "While we are winning, I really don't care if I score or Unai Simón [goalkeeper] does! It's all only about winning. Always."
camera-photo

Olmo: "You have to beat the best"

"This hasn't been an easy route to the final," said Olmo, who has helped Spain past two of the tournaments favourites, Germany and France, in the last two rounds. "But to win the EURO, you have to beat the best. Beating Germany at home was a big achievement, as defeating England would be. But we go out with the same idea as in every game – to play our game and to win."

Olmo: "Why change?"

With a perfect record so far, it's little wonder Olmo thinks his side should stick to what they're doing. "Things are working. Why change?," he said. "We have a unique style, it's going well, it's a strength. Within that you always try to come up with new details, which the coach might suggest. The overall philosophy won't change at all."
camera-photo

Olmo speaks to media

Olmo, has been in front of the cameras today, looking ahead to Sunday's final against England. We'll have quotes from the Leipzig and Spain star shortly...

Tale of the tape

England have the historical bragging rights in this match-up. They have won 14 matches to Spain's 10, and won the last meeting between the two. However, they have prevailed in only two of the previous 10 games, so in the short-term, at least, La Roja will be feeling confident.

Bundesliga stars leading the way

Both teams have been buoyed by important contributions from their Bundesliga stars. Harry Kane is England's top goalscorer with three strikes, while Dani Olmo has the same for Spain. They are both joint-top of the Golden Boot rankings as a result, and a goal for either in Berlin could see them take home the individual accolade.
camera-photo

Spain's Road to Berlin

La Roja's path has been smoother. The only team to win all three of their group games, Spain were confident and commanding as they defeated Croatia, Italy and Albania, all to nil. In the first knockout round, they had far too much for plucky Georgia as they prevailed 4-1, but their match against Germany in the quarters was far more challenging. They ultimately needed a last-gasp Mikel Merino winner at the end of extra-time to get through, and they also had to come from behind to defeat France in the semi-finals. Three-time winners of this tournament already, they will set a new record if they lift the trophy for the fourth time.
camera-photo

England's Road to Berlin

Gareth Southgate's team have not been at their best for much of this tournament, but they have found a way to progress. They topped their group after a win over Serbia and draws with Denmark and Slovenia, but looked to be going out in the round of 16 against Slovakia until Jude Bellingham popped up with an overhead kick in the fifth minute of injury time to force an extra 30 minutes. Harry Kane scored the winner in that one, before Switzerland were beaten on penalties in the quarter-finals. A dramatic Ollie Watkins goal downed the Netherlands in Dortmund to send England to a second consecutive Euro final.

24 teams started, 2 remain

The past three weeks have given us plenty of memorable moments, but now we are down to the final two teams. It has been a long journey for both outfits, yet they are just one more game away from glory. It promises to be a tense and emotional evening at the Olympiastadion.
