Atubolu to Freiburg's rescue
What a finish to this match! Atubolu has been out of sorts for large parts of this match but he sticks a leg out to save from the onrushing Arp at the death to keep Freiburg in front. Incredible.

An ambitious effort from SCF's No. 30, who is not adding to his earlier goal with a shot like that anytime soon.

Kiel look to Kelati and Arp to get them back into this with Machino and Rosenboom waving goodbye to this game.

Günter from downtown
Christian Günter netted his second goal of the season and both have been scored from long range. Indeed, of his last nine Bundesliga goals, eight have come from outside the penalty area.
38'
Freiburg have daylight
Günter sweeps in a free kick from the right hand side. It's a tidy goal but Weiner might be asking himself a question or two for allowing that past him from there.

Ginter threat
Grifo's set-piece is met by Ginter, whose header is deflected away from the target.
32'
Atubolu scare
Atubolu lets the ball get caught under his feet when not under any pressure and he's forced to hack clear. The Germany U21 international keeper has looked far from focused today.

Freiburg again
Maxi Eggestein has a pop from distance with a shot that lands comfortably in Weiner's arms.
28'
Poor old Remberg
Nicolai Remberg previously scored an own goal against Bayern Munich on Matchday 3 and he thus becomes the first player to do put through his own net twice in this Bundesliga season.

Freiburg lead
The hosts hit the front. Some good build-up play down the left sees Maximilian Eggestein cut a pass inside for Eren Dinkçi. The 23-year-old's subsequent cross from close range is poked by Nicolai Remberg on the slide up and over Weiner and in for the game's opening goal.

Kiel scare
A deep ball into the Kiel box is watched by Weiner, who is off his line and misses with a flying punch. The ball donks against Becker's head and bounces away to safety.

Hosts on the up
Some decent, one-touch passing from Freiburg in an attacking move finally gives the home fans something to get excited about. Grifo's subsequent corner flashes menacingly past all concerned in the Kiel box.

Kiel promise
The visitors have not made a bad start here and are full of energy as they press Freiburg into errors. Phil Harres and Shuto Machino are not making things easy for the home side at all.

Atubolu panic!
Amazing! Straight from the kick-off, Freiburg's 'keeper thumps a clearance at Harres and, for a moment, it looks like the ball might roll over the line with both giving frantic chase. Atubolu just about makes amends with a last-gasp clearance for a corner.

More on those teams
Three changes to a starting XI is the most Julian Schuster has made between Bundesliga matches. Philipp Lienhart (ill), Patrick Osterhage and Michael Gregoritsch (both bench) all drop out for Max Rosenfelder, Eren Dinkçi and Merin Röhl, who makes his first start since September following an ankle injury. As for Kiel, it's two changes from the handsome 5-1 win over Augsburg in December as new signing David Zec is handed his debut in central defence, alongside Timo Becker. Max Geschwill and Marko Ivezić drop out.

Kiel looking to start strong
With just eight points from the first part of the season, Kiel will look to start their climb out of the relegation places with victory away at Freiburg, which has proven a difficult place to play this season.
Hoping for a European charge
Freiburg lie in 9th place, having lost their previous game to Leverkusen 5-1. They are only one point off Dortmund in sixth, and will surely have it in their sights as we enter the second half of the season.
First encounter
These teams have never played each other before in the Bundesliga or Bundesliga 2. Their only previous meeting was in the DFB Cup second round in October 2018, when Kiel recovered from going 1-0 down inside the first minute to win 2-1.
