Effzeh recently bounced back after two defeats with a series of wins: recently a 1-0 against Fürth, previously another 1-0 away at Hertha, and before that a 3-0 in the DFB Cup against Bundesliga side Kiel.

Preußen drew three times during this run, most recently 1-1 at KSC. Before that, they secured a 1-0 victory against Düsseldorf – proving Münster can handle top opponents.

Classic rivalry

Before the Bundesliga was founded, Preußen and Cologne regularly faced each other in the Oberliga.

Since those encounters, the two traditional clubs have never met again in a competitive match, and they have never been drawn against each other in the DFB Cup.

What happened back then?

Cologne won both encounters back then: on matchday 8 at home 3-0 (goals: Drewes own goal, Overath, Müller) and on matchday 23 away 2-0 (Thielen brace).

First time in a long time

Preußen Münster and Colgone are playing in the same league for the first time in 61 years: in 1963/64, the two clubs were founding members of the Bundesliga - Cologne became champions and Münster were relegated as the second-to-last team and never promoted back to the Bundesliga.
