WHAT A CHANCE!
Somehow, Freiburg aren't 2-0 ahead here. A cross from the right finds Höler at the back post after a flick at the near post. His flick at goal is cleared off his own line by Sommer with a fantastic reaction save.

CAUSING PROBLEMS AGAIN
Freiburg are continuing to find joy down the wings here, with Sallai crossing for Höler from the right this time. Gladbach are able to clear with the cross too high in the end.

FINE WORK AGAIN
Höler's pass in behind the Gladbach defence finds Santamaria, who looks to play a pass across for Sallai at the back post but the Gladbach defence recovers with Beyer clearing that chance behind. Freiburg are flying here.

DEMIROVIC BOOKED
The Freiburg forward brings down Thuram on the break and he's now suspended for next week.

KEEPING IT WIDE
Freiburg have been fantastic so far both in playing out from the back, and making the Borussia-Park pitch as wide as possible with the 3-4-3 formation giving Streich's side numbers out wide.

BIG CHANCE FOR SALLAI!
Once again Freiburg break down the right with Sallai exchanging a one-two with Demirovic before running in on goal. He's almost surprised to have the space to run at goal from the right and he shoots at Sommer from seven yards out, but Sommer makes a big one-handed save.

FINDING THEIR WAY
Another shot blocked from Gladbach as Plea battles with Schlotterbeck to earn space for a shot on his right. This one is deflected up for Müller to simply grab on its way forward.

THURAM BLOCKED
The Frenchman has been quiet so far, but has his first shot of the game here as he cuts in from the left. But the Freiburg defence is on top of things and block his shot.

KEEPING THINGS WIDE
Freiburg are finding their flow here with another swift counter, this time down the right. Schmid's flick to Sallai allows him to run on and cross for Höler at the back post, but he can't angle his sliding shot on target from close range.

FREIBURG IN FRONT!
Against the run of play, Freiburg take the lead with a swift break. It's Günter who plays Demirovic in down the left and he does superbly to spot Sallai in space at the back post, and then find him with a fine ball across the area for the Hungarian to slot home.

GLADBACH ON TOP
The home side have made a brighter start here than their visitors, with Freiburg unable to really get a hold on the game thus far.

TEAM NEWS - GLADBACH
Gladbach have had to change half of their back four for this one: Ramy Bensebaini is suspended, so veteran Oscar Wendt begins at left-back, while central defender Nico Elvedi sustained a calf injury in training on Friday and is replaced by 20-year-old Jordan Beyer. Further up the field, Jonas Hofmann is unavailable so Hannes Wolf is given a chance to show what he can do from the off in attacking midfield.
TEAM NEWS - FREIBURG
The visitors are without playmaker Vincenzo Grifo today, which is a significant setback as the Italy international has seven goals and six assists this season. He's replaced by 21-year-old Germany U-21 international Yannik Keitel, who makes his first league start of the campaign.

HEAD-TO-HEAD
Freiburg marginally have the better record in this fixture, having won 13 and drawn 13 of the 37 league meetings with Gladbach, who have taken maximum points 11 times. The teams drew 2-2 earlier this season, but the Foals have won four of the last five against the Black Forest side on home turf, drawing the other.
HOT AND COLD
Like Gladbach, Freiburg have had some disappointing results recently, losing three of their last five matches. However, they have picked up a couple of wins too, overcoming Bayer Leverkusen and, on Matchday 26, Augsburg.

CORNER TURNED?
Gladbach ended a seven-game winless run in their last outing before the international break, running out 3-0 winners over Schalke. That left Marco Rose’s side in 10th place ahead of Matchday 27, four points behind Bayer Leverkusen in sixth. Can they take another step towards European qualification today?

THE STAKES
Freiburg’s primary objective every season is to avoid relegation. Currently on 37 points, a win here would take them to the 40-point mark that usually guarantees top-flight security. They’ve been far better than merely ‘surviving’ this term, however, and remain in the running for a top-six finish. That is Gladbach’s target too as they bid to put some difficult weeks behind them.
