Milestone for Neuer

Already a legend in the game, Manuel Neuer further cements his place in the parthenon of greats today by making his 512th Bundesliga outing, which moves him into the all-time top 10 Bundesliga appearance makers, level with Uli Stein. The 38-year-old is the only currently active player in that elite group.

No surprises from Šahin

The Dortmund coach has gone with the 11 players expected to start. Captain Can is suspended, Brandt is out with a muscular issue and Adeyemi is injured.

Further up the pitch, Mathys Tel gets just his second Bundesliga start of the season, with Serge Gnabry sidelined due to a knee complaint and Michael Olise beginning on the bench.

On Matchday 1, Şahin's team beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 and more recently also edged RB Leipzig 2-1, who were then on paper the best defence in the league and unbeaten.

The severe injury crisis Dortmund have been facing was easing by the end of the November international break. Waldemar Anton, Gregor Kobel and Jamie Gittens were declared fit in time to start their 4-0 win over Freiburg, with Giovanni Reyna also coming on as a substitute. Niklas Süle, Karim Adeyemi and Kjell Wätjen had returned to training by then, and the hope was they would also recover in time for the Klassiker.

Pavlović back in training

The Bayern starlet returned to first-team training after undergoing a shoulder operation. It is unlikely he'll be available for selection in Der Klassiker, however, creating problems for Vincent Kompany as his replacement João Palhinha is set to be out until the new year with a groin problem.
