Soon-to-be Germany international Jamal Musiala has pledged his future to Bayern Munich by signing a five-year contract with the club, running to 2026. The 18-year-old has been a breakout star in the record Bundesliga champions' 2020/21 campaign.

Just over a week after turning 18 and opting to represent Germany at international level, Musiala has now also committed his future to Bayern by signing a new contract with the club.

The Stuttgart-born midfielder has enjoyed a breakout season in the Bundesliga with Bayern, making 26 first-team appearances across all competitions and scoring three goals - including a first UEFA Champions League strike against Lazio which etched his name into the club's history books as Bayern's youngest scorer in the competition.

"I'm really happy that I signed my first professional contract with FC Bayern," Musiala told the club's official website. "I feel incredibly comfortable here in the club and with the team. I play with the best players in the world and I learn from them every day in training.

"Hansi Flick, Hasan Salihamidžić  and Marco Neppe as well as the whole club believed in me and gave me the chance very early on. I just want to repay this trust with good performance. I want to keep getting better and win a lot of titles with FC Bayern. My goal is to become an important player for FC Bayern."

The former Chelsea youth product signed for Bayern from the English Premier League side in the summer of 2019 and spent most of his first year in Germany with Bayern's second team, winning the 3. Liga title under Sebastian Hoeneß.

Musiala made his Bundesliga debut on the penultimate weekend of the 2019/20 season, and has since established himself as a regular member of Hansi Flick's first-team squad at the Allianz Arena.

"We are very happy that Jamal has decided to sign his first long-term professional contract with FC Bayern," said Salihamidzic. "We worked towards being happy together. Before Jamal came to FC Bayern in the summer of 2019, we had to and were able to convince him and his family of our project.

"I'm very pleased that our system of discovering talented players, developing them and then integrating them into the professional team is bearing fruit."

Despite having only just turned 18, Musiala will be looking to collect a second Bundesliga winner's medal at the end of this season and a first Champions League winner's gong having missed out on Bayern's title win in 2019/20.
