Full time: St. Pauli 2-2 Hamburg
St. Pauli will likely feel frustrated after letting slip a 2-0 lead to draw, especially given how dominant they were in the first 45 minutes. Hamburg were more aggressive and purposeful after the interval, and the introduction of Dompé gave them some much-needed pace and incision. Ultimately though, there are still just three points separating these teams at the top of the standings.

Over from Irvine!
So close to a winner, and from another corner!. The ball bounces kindly for Irvine, but he snatches at his shot a bit and it flies well over the bar.

History in the making?
Up until now, a two-goal lead in the Hamburg derby has always been enough to go on and win. Will that change today?

Diving header!
Irvine floats a cross into the box from the right, perfectly into the run of Hartel. He executes a brilliant diving header, but it's straight at Heuer Fernandes.

HSV equalise!
Amazing scenes! After being out of it for most of the first half, HSV are level! Dompé delivers a ball from the left into the box and finds Pherai, who turns and drills a low right-footed shot into the net!

HSV back in it!
Well, well, well! Königsdörffer jinks past his marker on the right and Van der Brempt curls in a cross from the right. Glatzel slides in and pokes in from close range to reduce the deficit.

Wide from Saad
The ball sits up nicely for Saad and he needs no second invitation to have a shot, but his effort on the half volley fizzes narrowly wide of the post.

New balls please!
The snow is coming down thick and fast now in Hamburg, with much of it settling on the pitch. There's a break in play as the referee's request for orange match balls is implemented - they should help visibility.

HSV shaken
The away side are understandably a little unsettled after that unexpected second goal. Half-time can't come soon enough for them, giving them a chance to re-group.

Long time coming
That was the first own goal Hamburg have conceded since September 2022, when Moritz Heyer scored in his own net in Kiel.

Pauli double their lead!
Heuer Fernandes will not want to see this one again. HSV try to play out from the back and when the ball comes to the Hamburg goalkeeper, two yards from goal, it bobbles up on an uneven patch of the pitch. Heuer Fernandes tries to smash the ball clear, but ends up lashing it into his own goal!

Promising attack
A sweeping move forward from Pauli, playing their way through HSV's press. It culminates in Saad dashing into the box down the left, but Van der Brempt slides in to block.

Meffert tries his luck
The HSV midfielder has a little pocket of space, around 30 yards out. He smashes a powerful drive at goal, but Vasilj has a clear view of it and gathers comfortably.

The hosts have the ball in the net again following some neat work down the left, but it's ruled out because Saad was offside in the build-up.

Pauli lead!
It's a similar scenario to Pauli's first corner of the game in the fourth minute, with Hartel curling a low ball in from the right. Irvine is alive to it and smashes a brilliant shot through the crowd and into the net!

HSV finding their feet
If Pauli were marginally on top in the opening minutes, Hamburg have just started to enjoy a bit more time on the ball of late. They're still yet to have a sight of goal, but are having more possession and spending more time in the opposition half.

HSV almost in
Pauli lose possession deep inside their own half and Hamburg immediately try to take advantage, with Pherai striding forward. He's got Glatzel ahead of him but not many other options, and ultimately the home side get numbers back to clear the danger.

First chance!
It's been a predictably fierce opening so far, but it's the hosts who create the first opportunity. It's a training-ground corner routine as Hartel delivers a low ball to the edge of the box for the onrushing Smith, whose first-time effort is well struck, but he can't keep it down.

Form book in hosts' favour?
St. Pauli top the Bundesliga 2 standings right now and remain unbeaten after a sensational start to the season. Hamburg are only three points behind, although they have won just four of their past nine league ties. In any case, form so often goes out the window in derby matches!
Long and winding road to promotion?
Not since 2018 has one of the big Hamburg clubs been in the top flight, but with the top two spots in Bundesliga 2 currently shared between them, they are both hoping this will be their year. Read more in our feature right here!
