Full-time: Regensburg 0-0 Kaiserslautern

A hard-fought match ends goalless. Regensburg came to life in the second half, with the woodwork being struck once on each side, preventing goals. Overall, FCK was the better team, but Regensburg defended selflessly and earned their point deservedly.

A bit too far again

Mause!

Beautiful solo run from the super-sub. Last season's top scorer in the Third Division cuts in from the left into the penalty area but miscues his effort. The ball hits the side netting of the near post.

Determined teams - Will there be a lucky punch?

Balls are repeatedly crossed into the Kaiserslautern penalty area, but their accuracy is still lacking. On the other side, the counter-attack ends with Ache being judged to be offside.
84'

Geipl from the halfway line

Dangerous. Klement loses the ball in midfield to Geipl. He sees that Krahl is far off his line and shoots. But the FCK goalkeeper senses the danger and manages to get back and intercept the ball.

FCK overall more dangerous

information
xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals > xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals > goals).
Although Jahn are now performing better, an FCK lead would not be undeserved considering the entire match. The visitors have had more scoring opportunities and more possession. However, it's still 0-0 and everything is still to play for.

FCK lacking precision

Yokota crosses from the half-space for Ache, but the ball is once again a bit too long.
75'

Lautern fight back

The visitors are on the attack again. Abiama's sharp cross is a bit too long for Ache, the striker can't reach it.

Regensburg "awakened"?

After Kühlwetter's thunderbolt off the crossbar shortly after the break, the home side are fully in the game!
71'

Double substitution for Kaiserslautern

FCK coach Anfang responds to Regensburg's period of pressure, bringing on Klement and Yokota as new additions.
68'

Kother just over!

Regensburg are now actually working on taking the lead! Kother gets past three Lautern players, and his powerful shot from the left side of the box whistles just over the crossbar.
66'

Pröger looks for Ganaus

Regensburg are now making the match much more balanced and are repeatedly making their presence felt in attack. Pröger's cross after a solo run is narrowly missed by Ganaus.
63'

Ritter 'stamps' on Wurm

Ritter keeps his foot on Wurm near the opponent's penalty area. He receives a yellow card for this.
61'

Picking up pace

After 60 minutes, there is now noticeably more tempo in the game. The match now seems a bit more unpredictable, as the two strikes off the woodwork at the beginning of this half have shown.
58'

Ganaus on a solo run

Ganaus dribbles from the left side towards the penalty area, but Krahl securely catches the shot that was placed too central.
55'

The visitors continue to dominate possession

The match is now significantly more open, but Lautern remain the better team both with and without the ball.
51'

This time at the other end: Off the woodwork again!

The start of the second half is really intense! The corner following the counter-attack becomes extremely dangerous. The post is rattled again, as Kühlwetter guides the ball to the left and onto it!
50'

Strong Jahn counter-attack

Now it's heating up on the other end as well. Ganaus sprints towards the byline and plays it into the middle. There, Heuer clears in front of Kühlwetter.
48'

Viet clears off the line

The next chance follows immediately. From the scramble of a corner, the ball comes dangerously close to the Regensburg goal, but Viet is perfectly positioned and clears it off the line.
47'

Ache hits the post!

The second half begins with a superb individual effort from Ache. The striker sets himself up and curls the ball from 18 metres out onto the inside of the right post!

Half-time: Regensburg 0-0 Kaiserslautern

Dominant Lautern control the match on the Danube, enjoying plenty of possession but not creating too many chances yet. Most of their threats have come from long-range efforts or set-pieces. The bottom-placed Regensburg show improved defensive organisation and have had only one goal-scoring opportunity through Viel.

Ritter curls the corner directly towards goal

The visiting team's midfielder is having a good game. He curls his corner from the left directly towards the goal. It's not far off, the ball lands on the roof of the net.
39'

Regensburg improved defensively - Lautern as well

Overall, the hosts are allowing the slight favourites from the Palatinate very few clear chances. However, this comes at a bit of a cost to their offensive play. That being said, Kaiserslautern are also very solid at the back. This hasn't always been the case recently.
36'

Double chance for Lautern

Strong play from Ritter, who alertly intercepts a second ball in midfield. He then wastes no time and tests Gebhardt with a swerving shot from just under 25 metres. Ache gets the rebound, but from a tight angle on the left side, he strikes the ball wide of the right post.
33'

Ache sought

FCK are now repeatedly looking for quick balls to target man Ache, but the Regensburg defence clears resolutely into touch on two separate occasions.
31'

Many duels - little pace

In an intensely contested match with several challenges, both teams are still struggling to involve their quicker players in the game.

Nice attempt

Ritter's free kick from the 18th minute is one of the best attacking moves of the first half-hour in Regensburg
27'

Lurking hosts

For a home team, Regensburg are sitting very deep, which is not surprising after the flood of goals conceded recently. However, they are now managing to win the ball back, with the next turnover resulting in a free-kick from the left half-space.
25'

The visitors controlling the game

Lautern continues to be the more active team. However, both teams have now had a very good goalscoring opportunity.

Hein and Tachie repeatedly involved

Hein and Tachie are engaged in intense duels on the right attacking flank for Lautern. This time Hein commits a foul, but he needs to be careful after receiving a yellow card.
21'

Viet!

First attempt on goal from the home side, and what an attempt too! Regensburg switch play, and the ball eventually reaches the midfielder lurking in the space behind. He has plenty of time and curls the ball from about 16 metres just over the top right corner.
18'

Nice attempt by Ritter

This time, the attacking midfielder takes the ball and curls it towards the right corner from about 25 metres out. Gebhardt is there and parries it to the side.
17'

Next FCK set-piece

FCK are awarded another free-kick from a good position. This time even more central than before.
15'

Lautern slightly more dangerous

The first quarter of an hour in Regensburg belongs to the visitors. They have shown better build-up play and have already had the first chance through Ache. So far, however, the match lacks a bit of flow, with several fouls characterising what has been a hard-fought encounter up to this point.
12'

Another Yellow

The next yellow card of the match. This time, the recently fouled player becomes the offender. Tachie receives a booking for a challenge on Hein.
9'

Hein arrives late

Hein clatters into Tachie in midfield and receives the first booking of the match.
8'

Into the wall

Wekesser steps up to take the free kick, but the shot with his left foot is blocked by the Regensburg wall.
7'

Dominant visitors

In the stands, the travelling fans from the Palatinate are setting the tone. On the pitch, Lautern are also in control. They are awarded a free kick from a promising position, about 25 metres centrally in front of the goal.
4'

Coordination issues for Regensburg

This new line-up from the home side appears eager and is putting in plenty of running, but they still seem somewhat disorganised and are losing possession frequently as a result.
2'

Ache misses the ball

A great chance for the visitors straight away. Gyamerah gets involved in the attack and wants to set up the striker from the right side. He plays a through ball to Ache, but the forward arrives half a step too late. Regensburg get it clear.

Kick-off

The match in Regensburg is underway.

A change for the visitors

Lautern boss Anfang has little reason to make changes, as the performance in the 2-2 draw against HSV was impressive. Nevertheless, there is one alteration to the starting line-up as Abiama replaces Opoku.

Four changes for the home side

Things haven't been going well for Regensburg lately. After four consecutive league defeats, coach Enochs makes four changes. Wurm, Bulic (both making their first start), Ganau and Hein are the new additions.

Kaiserslautern starting XI

Krahl - Gyamerah, Elvedi, Heuser, Wekesser - Kaloc, Tomiak - Tachie, Ritter, Abiama - Ache

Regensburg starting XI

Gebhardt - Wurm, Bulic, Breunig, Hein - Geipl, Viet - Pröger, Ganaus, Kother - Kühlwetter

Just one victory

The Red Devils' only wins against Regensburg was away under Franco Foda in May 2013 (3-1), with Erwin Hoffer, Mo Idrissou and Willi Orban scoring for Lautern.

Good record

Regensburg have lost only one of their seven competitive matches against Kaiserslautern. Across six encounters in Bundesliga 2, the Bavarians have recorded two wins, three draws, and one defeat, in addition to winning on penalties at the Betzenberg in the DFB Cup in September 2020.
